Executive Team
Nigel Hopkinson, President and CEO
Nigel has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry. After holding positions at industry leaders including HP and Unisys, he became UK sales director at fault-tolerant manufacturer Stratus Computer. During the past 15 years he focused on working with emerging technology companies, helping Logic Works to a successful IPO and later acquisition by Platinum. He then served as CEO of Intuit Services Europe, and most recently as Global VP of Sales for SealedMedia where he ran US and European sales teams for this information security company, seeing it through to eventual acquisition by Oracle in 2006. Mr. Hopkinson holds a BSc (Hons), in Business Studies from Bradford University.
Simon Maddox, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer
Co-founder Simon Maddox incorporates years of experience in products, systems, finance and marketing into his work at Office-Shadow. Prior to co-founding the company, he built and ran a cutting-edge company that helped develop Digital TV standards now in use around the world. Previous experience with the BBC and with equipment design and facilities companies in the IT and broadcasting sectors honed his skills in a variety of related disciplines. In his career Simon has been responsible for product conception and development, future product strategies, marketing and back-office systems.
Phil Becker, Chief Technology Officer
Phil brings to Office-Shadow a strong technical background and 25 years’ experience in the IT industry. Most recently he served as Vice President at Visa Europe where he was responsible for development of a new money transfer service (Visa Money Transfer), the corporate extranet and web applications development. He has held senior IT management positions within financial services and technology companies including Clearmoney (now part of Bacs) and a pioneering money transfer service Paytastic. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Operation & Control from the University of Salford and has attended management training at the IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Roland Johnson, President, Office-Shadow North America
Roland heads up a team of BC professionals based on Wall Street, focused on enhancing the resilience of North American businesses through the use of Shadow-Planner solutions. For nearly 20 years prior to joining Office-Shadow, Roland helped companies in Europe, Canada and USA select and implement software technologies. He guided software vendors, including SAP, J.D. Edwards and ICL (UK), in establishing markets for new software concepts and solutions. Roland has an MA in Physics from Oxford University, an MBA from Warwick University and an MSc in Economics and Financial Markets for Warwick University. He served as a board member for the University of Toronto MBA program.
Paul Gant, Managing Director, EMEA Region
Paul has more than 20 years experience in the software industry, and brings strong experience in building sales delivery for sophisticated software products. Prior to joining Office-Shadow, Paul spent three years as European Sales Director and then General Manager for Cyveillance Inc., the US-based pioneer in the Internet Intelligence sector. He built this company’s market presence in a broad range of major European companies. Paul also spent five years in CRM systems consulting, where he worked with a range of major corporations including PricewaterhouseCoopers, ABN AMRO Bank, BOC, Caterpillar, Levi Strauss and UPS. He was a major contributor to the Price Waterhouse Sales & Marketing Software Handbook. Paul has an MBA in IT Management & Marketing from Cass Business School, London.
Chris Oliver, Group Operations Director
Chris Oliver FBCI is a recognized expert in the field of business continuity management with more than 15 years of experience. As one of only 125 global Fellows of the Business Continuity Institute he is Chairman of the main Membership Council and is the author of several of the Institute’s key policies and procedures. Prior to Office-Shadow he served as the Director of Corporate Continuity for the States of Guernsey, and created a commercial Business Continuity Practice in his Channel Island home. As a frequent speaker on the lecture circuit, his specialist areas include finance, government and regulated utilities.
John Haggas, Chief Finance Officer
John Haggas, responsible for financial management, operations and strategy, has over 15 years experience at the Finance Director level in privately backed companies in the SME sector, in the fields of technology and media. He has a successful track record of building businesses to exit; his previous two companies were sold to Pearsons and Highbury House respectively. He holds a BSC Economics Degree from London University.

Office-Shadow is served by a Board of Directors composed of heads of industry and thought leaders in the areas of risk management and good corporate governance.
John Nicholson, Chairman
John has over 25 years of experience in the Information Technology Industry. Since 2002, he has been helping Venture Capital Funds and Investors to advise and assist companies, boards and management teams. In addition to his Chairmanship of Office-Shadow he currently serves on boards of three other companies. Prior to this he was Group Sales Director of Compaq in the UK & Ireland and a Vice President of Compaq Computer Corporation; he also served as Vice President at Digital equipment Corporation, responsible for the Data Warehousing Solution segment. A Systems Analyst by training, John has also studied leadership and world markets at both INSEAD and Babson, and regularly coaches and facilitates individuals and groups on Management and Leadership.
Mike Quinn, Non Executive Director
Mike has more than 28 years of experience in the Information Technology sector bringing strong sales and management skills in developing organizations. From 1993 to 2000 he was sales director at Guardian iT, taking it from a 19-employee company to a major player on the London Stock Exchange and Europe’s leading Disaster Recovery company. His sales career began at Burroughs Machines (now Unisys) after which he moved to AIM, a UK system house where he rose to Managing Director. He has been on the board of Office-Shadow since 2002, and is also a board member at several other technology firms. He holds a BSc in Economics from London University.
